Car Maintenance Passport is designed to be local-first and private by default. No account is required. Most data stays on your device, and the app does not use third-party ads or analytics.
All data you enter — vehicles, service records, fuel logs, reminders, and documents — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Pro can also save backup copies of your records to your personal iCloud Drive account when iCloud is available and enabled on your device. This is controlled entirely by your Apple ID and Apple's privacy policies. The developer has no access to your iCloud data.
Car Maintenance Passport offers an optional Pro upgrade via Apple's In-App Purchase system. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple. The developer does not receive or store any payment information.
All plans can create local backup copies from the Settings screen while the app remains installed on the device. Pro can also store backup copies in your personal iCloud Drive under the "Car Maintenance Passport" folder when iCloud is available and enabled on your device. iCloud backups are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Local data remains on your device. iCloud is used only to store backup copies for recovery.
If you tap the Autofill button after entering a VIN, the app sends that VIN to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) VIN decoder service to fetch vehicle make, model, and year data. This request happens only when you choose to use VIN autofill.
Photos and PDF documents you attach to service records are stored locally on your device. They are included in local backups, and in iCloud backups when that feature is enabled. They are never uploaded to any external server.
The app can send local notifications for service reminders. These are scheduled on-device by iOS and do not involve any external server or third-party service.
Car Maintenance Passport does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. The app contains no user accounts and no advertising or analytics SDKs. Optional VIN autofill uses the NHTSA VIN decoder only when triggered by the user.
If this privacy policy changes in a material way, the updated policy will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
