Frequently asked questions

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything you enter stays on your device by default. No account is required. The main exception is optional VIN autofill, which sends the VIN you enter to the NHTSA VIN decoder service only when you tap Autofill. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Where are my backups stored?

Local backups stay inside the app on your device and are available on every plan while the app remains installed. Pro can also store backup copies in your personal iCloud Drive under the "Car Maintenance Passport" folder when iCloud is available and enabled on your device. You can check the current backup options, create a fresh backup, and restore from backup in Settings → Backup.

Will my data survive if I delete and reinstall the app?

Your local data and local in-app backups are removed if you delete the app. Pro users who had iCloud backup enabled can restore their latest iCloud backup after reinstalling or on a new device.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases". Your Pro access is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed in to the same account at no extra charge.

What is included in Pro?

Pro unlocks Ownership Intelligence analytics, all export options (PDF, Resale Report, CSV), the full Document Vault, unlimited vehicles, and Automatic iCloud Backup. Free users can track one vehicle with full service history, fuel logging, and local backup/restore.

Can I export my data?

Yes. With Pro, you can export a Service Passport PDF, a Resale Report PDF, or a CSV of your service history from the vehicle detail screen.

The app lost my data after an update. What happened?

Occasionally a major model update may require the local database to be reset. When this happens, the app shows a notice and moves the old data to a "Recovered Stores" folder inside Application Support. If you created a backup beforehand, you can restore it from Settings → Backup. Pro users with iCloud backup enabled can also restore their latest iCloud backup.

How does the Ownership Forecast work?

The forecast estimates upcoming costs based on your active reminders and your service history. If a reminder has a due date within the next 12 months, its cost is estimated from the average of previous services of the same type. Items with no history use a conservative estimate until more records are logged.
